STATEMENT FROM THE RABBINICAL COUNCIL OF VICTORIA ON ADASS ISRAEL FIREBOMBING

The Rabbinical Council of Victoria (RCV) stands in full solidarity with the Adass Israel community following today’s abhorrent firebombing of their synagogue in Ripponlea. This vile attack on a sacred place of worship is an attack not only on the Jewish community but on the values of peace, tolerance, and respect cherished by all Australians.

This incident comes on the heels of last week’s attack on the personal home of a Melbourne rabbi, marking an alarming escalation in antisemitic violence. The RCV is gravely concerned about this trend and demands immediate and decisive action from authorities.

We call on law enforcement and government leaders at all levels to:

• Ensure the perpetrators of these hateful crimes are swiftly brought to justice.

• Significantly increase protection and resources for vulnerable community institutions.

• Clearly and publicly condemn antisemitism, sending a strong message that these actions will not be tolerated in Australia.

The RCV urges federal, state, and local authorities to work collaboratively to prevent further acts of hatred and ensure that the Jewish community—and all faith communities—can worship and live in safety and security.

We stand united with Adass Israel and all those affected by these despicable acts. Let this be a moment for all Australians to recommit to building a society rooted in understanding and mutual respect, where there is no place for hate.
